What kind of shopper are you?

This is an interesting parable of shopping choices and really brings things into perspective.  I would add that some choose the smartest, best product and then begin to take it for granted.  Some go further and leave it on the shelf, un-used or under-used, collecting dust. So...  which type of shopper are you?

Problems with Socialist Health Care and Government

There is just not much I can say right now... I am just too horror struck.  My hands are shaking and my stomach is turning. This is what happens under socialist health care and government.  Important issues fall between the cracks because people are not held fully accountable for their work (i.e. doctors and social workers allowed this to happen because no one checks up on them and they aren't accountable to their clients!). At least we know now that Baby P is safe and happy.  May this never happen again.

New Theme

Eye of the Beholder. Great title, right?  Hopefully? Been doing some thinking.  I started this blog for a place to be me and vent if I needed to and... well... Who needs that?  The world does not need anyone else ranting and venting.  And I don't need a place to spill my woes (I have a great husband, mom and sister, not to mention friends who have the honor and pleasure of listening to me enough as is).   So I am re-titling my blog in hopes to give it a better feel.  This is my world from my eyes.  I hope that you will appreciate what my typing fingers are trying to relay from my eyes and heart to yours.

I love living here...

... because there are little antique shops and booths everywhere.  And there are always people selling old, antique books.  Case in point:  Today I bought 6 Bobbsey Twins books for 6 GBP.  Works out to be about $9.83 at today's exchange rate.  So here is what my books look like. I got volumes 1, 2, 6, 16, 45 and 46 and they are all from the 1955 print.  According to my research they value between $6 and $14 a piece.  So I paid about $1.64 a piece and I could sell them for at least $6 each, as if I'm ever going to part with them, that's what a 300% return if I am crunching the numbers right.   Anyway, the most exciting part for me is that I used to borrow these books along with Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys from my Grandma Bell.  So, these books will always remind me of her.  I'm so excited about seeing what other good finds I spot in the next 3 years.

Tomorrow's Elections

Wow, do Americans have a great weight on their shoulders...  Tomorrow's elections not only decide who will be president, but also which direction our country will proceed in.  These are a few important items that I think we should all consider. 1. The pro-life/ pro-choice debate. http://americaschoicenow.com/ 2. The definition of marriage debate. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1815825713 3. The War on Terror. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4fe9GlWS8 4. The Economy: Energy and Taxes. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Blog/Default.aspx?id=308558 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lqfwHCNsbUg http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9fbxpMw4mco *Now while Obama's tax plan may seem enticing to us little guys with lower incomes, what to the words "lower the playing field mean"?  Does that sound socialist to anyone else? Ok , a few last thoughts.  These I collected from an email going around.  I'm hoping they are accurately sourced because they are potent, thought-provoking

Dreams

There are a few things weighing heavily on my mind.  Things I need to do, things I want to do, plans for the future (family, school, career).  And then there are those wonderful dreams that make me smile, those fantasies that I am desperately hoping to make into realities. So, you're dying to know now, aren't you?  What is it that this domestic goddess yearns for? What does this blogger mama daydream about?   Here they are.... My two newest fascinations, can't seem to get them out of my head... 1.  I am in love with this and I'm dying to have one. 2.  Oh, and if only life wasn't so crazy and I didn't have to be an adult with responsibilities...  If that were the case, I'd be doing this right now!  I'm doing it next year for sure! Do you have any fantasies that you feel a little sheepish about?  I'm dying to know!  Please share.

'Tis the season...

... to be spooky. I thought I'd share some poetry with you that I've written and that fits the mood of the season.  Hope you enjoy! Incubus Stalagmites, stalactites reaching all around The eerie darkness reeks of death Saliva dripping down Stalagmites, stalactites barring every way The eerie river chases me Thirsting, wanting prey Stalagmites, stalactites closing very tight The eerie monster grunt and growls Inflicting jagged bite Unbridle: A Siren's Seduction Come away with me, Behold the treasures of the sea. Whate’er your heart’s desire Come to me, we will conspire. Wealth and power you shall find, If you but promise to be mine. Come away with me, Behold the treasures of the sea. As the waves obey my command, Men will obey you,  Here now take my hand. Come away with me, Behold the pleasures of the sea. Whate’er your heart’s desire, Come to me, we will conspire. Lust and love you shall find, If you but promise to be mine. Come away with me, Behold the pleasures of the sea
